A quick note: this site isn't updated too much these days, as most of my writing energy is currently being channeled into Quiff Pro 'Fro, a music blog I write with my friend Ben. We have lots of exclusive interviews and stuff, you should totally check it out.

Prince of Persia movie

I played The Sands of Time a few years after everyone else, and thought it was great. The platforming, in particular, was sublime. The sequels, though, scared me away with their unnecessary dark tone and emphasis on combat. And as for the reboot... well, let's forget about that for now.

So, what do you do when a well-loved series loses its direction? You do what Tomb Raider did, of course, and turn it into a franchise-friendly summer blockbuster.

Jerry Bruckheimer, by the way, is behind some of the biggest (and worst) blockbusters in recent history. As well as Pirates of the Caribbean, he's also produced the National Treasure series, Black Hawk Down, Coyote Ugly, Top Gun, Bad Boys II and all of those CSI: Location shows. The man is a menace to culture, but unfortunately an absolute goldmine.

At least we get a direct sequel to the original game. Let's just hope it's more than just a quick cash-in by Ubi Soft.
